Holy Ground

This song was born during a live worship service more than two decades ago, in the midst of prayer, inspired by Moses' encounter with God at the burning bush. Moses was not standing in a cathedral surrounded by sacred symbols, but in an ordinary desert with nothing more than sand, a shepherd's staff, and a bush that would not burn up. Yet God declared, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." What made that ground holy was not its location but the presence of God Himself. The song echoes this truth in its declaration, "Holy, Holy, is the Lord Almighty; His Holy Ground is what I'm standing on." Holy ground has never been about the dirt beneath our feet; it has always been about the God who stands before us. Moses did not stumble upon a sacred place so much as he encountered a sacred Person, and because of that, holy ground can meet us anywhere in life's ordinary and extraordinary moments. The chorus reminds us that God is holy, great, the rock upon which we stand, and the source of our strength. In Christ, the wonder deepens, for He steps into our dust, enters our wilderness, and makes our ground holy through His nearness. The message behind the song is simple yet profound: we do not stand on holy ground because we are holy, but because Christ Himself is here.

Rooted

A song about being planted in Christ, drawing deep water in dry seasons and bearing fruit in His time. Roots are honest. They don't chase applause. They don't rush. They go down before they ever reach out. And this is the way of the Kingdom, the way of those planted in Christ. Scripture keeps returning to this image, almost as if God knows how easily we forget where true life comes from. "Blessed is the one… whose delight is in the law of the Lord… He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season.", Psalm 1:1, 3. Because when your roots are in Christ, the seasons may change, but the Source never does.

Carry Me Through

I wrote it just one day after being told that I had cancer. In an instant, my world was filled with fear, uncertainty, and questions I didn't have answers to. I felt overwhelmed by what lay ahead and realized I didn't have the strength to face it on my own. As I cried out to God, these words began to pour from my heart. This song became more than lyrics; it became a prayer. It was my plea for God to carry me through a battle that felt bigger than I could bear. In the midst of fear, I discovered that His presence was my peace and His promises were still true. Even when the storm raged around me, God reminded me that He was walking beside me every step of the way. The message of this song is not that I was strong, but that God was faithful. It is a reminder that we don't have to face our darkest moments alone. No matter how strong the winds blow or how fierce the fire becomes, God's grace is sufficient and His love never fails. He is with us in every valley, every struggle, and every unanswered question. My prayer is that if you're facing a difficult season today, these words will encourage you to place your trust in Him. Because through every storm, every tear, and every trial, God is able to carry us through.
